Austin's First Haircut... And Mommy's Big Mistake : (

Austin needed some sort of haircut just to even things out. He has had long hair since he was born. The top is the only part that grows and the back was starting to look a little patchy. So being the smart mom that I am I decided to attempt the haircut myself and missunderstood how you use hairclippers! Ha I am a first timer ok! I thought that if I used the 1/4 inch guard that it would only take off 1/4 of an inch off the top.... boy was I in for a surprise! So I have a baby that looks like he joined the Army but he is a cutie no matter what and I love him... plus if his hair grows as fast as his fingernails... we will be good in a week!

I Can Sit All By Myself!

So Austin and I were getting ready to watch Tom and Jerry together like we do everyday... he LOVES that show... it is the only show that he really talks and laughs too. I am glad because it is a classic. I set him in the middle of our bed so I could grab some blankets and I noticed him struggling to try to pull himself up so I watched him for awhile and he sat up!! I was so proud : ) He stayed up for about a minute and we just took pictures and laughed... then he fell over of course. He is still not that steady for he is getting so strong and is just soo cute. Updates and Changes

So I have almost decided that this blog will probably turn into more of a family blog instead of just about Austin. Mostly because I don't have something to say about him every other day (well I do but you all would get bored!) Also, Blake feels a little left out when he sees all the pictures of his brother and not him... so feeling a little guilty... I just decided to restructure a little bit!

Moving on... Austin will be 5 months on the 22nd and I can't believe it. He is so amazing and shows me the true meaning of love every single day. He is really reaching for things and I cannot have my cell phone, drink or food anywhere near him or it will be knocked out of my hand. He is not able to roll over yet but is sooo close. He gets a little frustrated and just wants me to pick him up... I figure he will be ready when he wants. Blake is 6 and will be 7 in May. He is really turning into a little man and loves his brother sooo much. It is a real blessing to have them so close. Blake and I are working on teaching him to pick up after himself and even though this should have been started earlier... I am making sure he gets it before teenage years..when everything goes out the window. The latest rule is no food/drink in the bedroom because I was finding things like rotten apple cores, poptart wrappers, fruit snacks etc under the bed... I also was able to snap this photo of Blake falling asleep with his drink in hand... another reason no drinks are allowed...they ruin my new carpet! I just need it to look nice for the first year ha... keeping my fingers crossed!

Blake, Mommy and Austin Experiment With Rice Cereal

So after Austin's 4 month appointment last week his doctor told me to start giving him rice cereal once a day... I don't have a high chair yet so we experimented and propped him up in his boppy! It was very eventful and I don't think Austin knew exactly what was happening.. I kept getting looks like "mom, what are you doing to me??" I love him so much and his big brother Blake was such a help keeping him smiling in between bites... Austin however, kept grabbing the spoon and trying to feed himself already! I was getting too many mixed responses to see if he really liked it or not.. I will try to feed him at a different time of the day tomorrow so he is less cranky! Enjoy these pics... Austin's First Thanksgiving... In Salt Lake City!

We had a very relaxing Thanksgiving visiting Jeff's dad and our newest family member Jo!(Jeff''s dad is engaged!) Everyone was there including all my sister in laws, Eric, Ava, some of Jeff's extended family (including his wonderful Grammy Parrish who is 92!) She is such a beautiful lady and I am glad Austin got to meet her! Austin is 4 months old and growing at a total of 18 lbs and 26 inches long! He has so much personality and is belly laughing constantly! Jeff tells me that he acts just like his mother so if you know how much I like to laugh then you can just imagine Austin! Being that he is only 4 months I did not get very many "thanksgiving" shots because unfortunetly he didn't make it to join us at the table... but I did get some random pictures to share and more on the way! Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!! (tomorrow)

So I haven't really had much to Blog about lately! I feel like I need to get with the program! I am starting to feel a little better. We finally found out what was wrong with me... just to fill you in. I always extremely tired (even more than normal for new moms), I was gaining weight pretty quickly (while on a good diet/going to the gym) and I just wasn't feeling up to par. I talked to my doctor and she did some blood tests... I found out I have a little bit of a thyroid problem. I guess the range for a healthy thyroid is like .3-5. In October of 2007 I was at 1.7 which is still pretty low. In October 2008 I am now at .17 (huge drop!) I was referred to an endocrinologist and have an appointment on November 6. So hopefully we get this taken care of. I am ready to feel back to normal..

We are excited to take Austin out for his first trick or treating expedition tomorrow night! Although he probably won't remember ha! Here is my little man in his horsey costume...

Also, Blake was extremely excited to be the Joker from Dark Knight... as was every other boy in Boise... this costume was sold out everywhere.. I had to order little pieces here and there off the internet... not bad though I must say. He looks pretty convincing!Jeff and I are celebrating the first part of our anniversary tonight and going to the Martin Sexton concert and dinner. Melissa is watching Austin alone for this first time.. ha what a proud Aunty!! She will do great. Austin loves his Aunt Melissa! Well have a safe Halloween...

Austin's First Photoshoot!

Ok so I FINALLY got Austin's pictures taken! I am so happy with them. I will post a few that I have already but I should get the disk on Friday or Saturday with all of them... he is such a little angel.

Just an update... we went to his doctor's appt. today! He weighs 15lbs 10oz! Holy cow I know... he is a big boy. He is 24 inches long and growing... he also got shots today which was sad but he is still taking a nap.. the crying wore him out! Enjoy the pics...

I am Horrible at this!!!

I am such a slacker... I need to start posting on here more. It is crazy how much the day gets ahead of me now that I am full-time mommy! Austin is growing so fast and getting so chunky it is absolutely adorable! He is such a talker and I can tell that he just wants to say something so bad. I am still waiting for my husband to buy me a new video camera so I can film it... The things I love most about Austin right now are our long coversations and him laughing and smiling. He completely melts my heart! I am going to get his pictures taken on Monday finally!! I am a slacker there too. I just now ordered our wedding pics and that was like almost a year ago! I will post his pics once I get them back. The photographer is amazing (from what I have seen) I am sooo excited to see my little guy in all the photos!

Austin turned 2 months old on September 22 and we are going in for his two month checkup on Wednesday... I will be surprised at how much weight he has gained. I feel like I am carrying a brick in the carseat. I should definitely have bigger muscles by now...

My Favorite Toy at 7 1/2 Weeks!

Wow I cannot believe it has been almost 8 weeks since my little guy was born. He truly has been a blessing and I can't get enough of him. He is gaining weight like there is not tomorrow and he is my chunky baby and soooo adorable! So I really have not tried to give him any of his toys/animals yet because he is just barely really being able to see and recognize things. I have been waiting patiently to give him this adorable monkey/blanket thing that I bought him (I don't know what they are called!) He LOVES it and I am so glad because he looks so cute holding it! We are just having so much fun watching him change and learn new tricks. He is such a talker and loves to tease me when it is time to give him his bottle. I will try to get this on video one of these days but he never performs when I get the camera out! Well enjoy these cute pics of him discovering his new fav monkey blankie!! I love you Austin!

McCall 2008

So Austin had his first trip.... which happened to not be very far away. We go up to McCall every August with Jeff's family as sort of a family reunion/celebrate my father in law's birthday trip! I didn't take many pics because I did alot of sleeping.... trying to catch up. We rented condos on the lake and everyone else enjoyed jetskiing and swimming. I am still a little sore from my c-section and didn't think my doctor would approve. We really needed this relaxing time away and everyone was such a big help with the baby. He definitely got spoiled up there.
